NOLA Aims to Change Tuesday’s Reputation in Real-Time Campaign

According to BuzzFeed, memes, and people on the internet, Tuesdays are the worst day of the week. But not in New Orleans, where every Tuesday has something to offer – from Fat Tuesday to Rebirth’s standing gig at Maple Leaf Bar.

That’s why the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC) is on a mission to change the reputation of Tuesdays, in an effort to encourage mid-week tourism to the city.

To start, NOTMC is enlisting local personalities and celebrities like musician Kermit Ruffins, chef John Besh and musician Dr. John to surprise live-respond to Twitter users who put Tuesdays down to make their days happier.

And to show how New Orleans celebrates Tuesdays like no place else, NOTMC is engaging local businesses to offer mid-week #HappyTuesday deals and events to travelers.

The integrated campaign also includes a BuzzFeed partnership, influencer marketing program, email marketing efforts, and a drive-market and national travel media blitz.

Fans can follow along through April 12 on Twitter via the hashtag #HappyTuesday and at HappyTuesday.com.
