Alamo Social Gaming Suite Reimagines Classic Car Games for the Digital Age

This summer, Alamo Rent a Car is putting a social spin on those classic road trip games with which America grew up. The brand’s new ‘Games 2 Go’ campaign marries the old with the new in a suite of social-by-design games that amplify family fun and help create more memorable family vacations.

Alamo Games 2 Go is designed to be played when families are out, about and on the road, promoting the brand’s belief that, ‘when you travel with Alamo, the journey itself can become half the fun.’ The game descriptions live within the Facebook environment, accessible via mobile and desktop, along with the Games 2 Go sweepstakes.

There are four games that make up Games 2 Go—Alamoding, a spin on photo-posing games like “planking” in which families capture their best driving poses; SnapFamily, a game to find backgrounds for fun family portraits; Alamovie, a game to condense your family vacation into a short, six second film; and PixPursuit, a photo-based scavenger hunt in which players are encouraged to seek out and photograph specific items that appear on Alamo’s Pursuit List. Players of each game are encouraged to tag their photos and videos with the #AlamoGames2Go hashtag.

By simply playing, tagging and sharing their content across any of the four main social platforms—Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Vine—families are rewarded with great family memories and can enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win vacation-themed prizes. Weekly prizes such as travel gear, gift cards, beach essentials, and digital picture frames, will be awarded to winners to help make their upcoming vacations that much more amazing. To keep the excitement going throughout the summer months, families can vie for a chance to win $5,000 towards a “Vacation After Your Vacation”—a relaxing trip for one lucky hard-at-work grown-up.

Family travel influencers will help build awareness and increase participation for Games 2 Go. As designated “Game Captains,” they will be in charge of creating content for each game, hosting their own exclusive contests and Twitter chats and awarding prizes to their winners. In addition, “Vacation City Moms” will act as representatives for their hometown vacation-destination cities. They’ll each play the Games 2 Go games across their native city to encourage fellow locals to play, making the games exciting for tourists to play during their visits.
