Through social listening, we look at the top trending topics day-by-day to help marketers understand what is capturing people’s attention and ‘Breaking the Internet.’

Music dominated social conversation last month, claiming nearly 10 million mentions. The #EurovisionFinale (akin to America’s American Idol) earned the top spot with almost seven million people commenting on the finalists’ performances. Keeping up the musical theme, #BBMA (Billboard Music Awards) inspired social buzz with lots of chatter around performances, awards and red carpet fashion.

Switching from music to sports, Leicester City Football Club came out victorious in the battle for the Premier League title, overcoming the 5,000-1 odds they faced at the start of the season. The Union of European Football Associations also crowned a champion with Real Madrid winning its 11th UEFA title.
